Flower Crown Nature Walk Activity

Get the kids outside and go on a nature walk! Let the kids have fun picking wildflowers, greenery, foliage, sticks, etc so they can do a fun threading activity. Print off our free bear prints so the kids can add all the items they collected on the nature walk to make a beautiful flower of crowns (also known as a haku in Hawaiian). This floral crown activity is so simple and fun, plus it gets the kids outside exploring the world around them!

The supplies are minimal:

  • Draw your own animal on a piece of cardstock or print off our free printable at the end of the post
  • Laminate for multiple use
  • Use a hole punch to make holes in the head area however you please
  • Collect your flowers and greenery

After your walk, find a bench or some grass to start threading. Just make sure there’s a long enough stem to pull the flowers through the holes.

And that’s it! So easy but so fun! Threading is such a great activity for kids (especially young ones) because it helps with hand-eye coordination and concentration skills. It also develops fine motor skills that help them write, draw and even tie shoelaces!
